What We Do
CLAZYkids specialises in the ancient craft of pottery, in a fun and modern way. We offer hand-building classes at schools or at the studio in the afternoons. We also do birthday parties and events. In a hand-building class, your child will use their hands to manipulate and shape the clay.
Hand building with clay could stimulate your child in the following ways:

How We Work
At CLAZYkids we believe that all children should be stimulated in a creative way and be allowed to express their creativity freely.
We achieve this by using potters clay as a medium. Experience has shown that pottery relaxes children and improves their concentration and self-confidence.
ABOUT US
WHAT IS CLAZYkids ALL ABOUT?
Pottery classes that are designed for children from age 4 and up, as well as adults. We teach the ancient craft of pottery in a fun and modern way. At CLAZYkids we use our hands to create the items and not a pottery wheel. Teaching a skill that is very neglected and a rare artform.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A CLASS ?
A typical class will start with explaining what we are going to make. We will then make the item explaining as we go. It depends on the age of the group. From about 4 years old the child should be able to do the work in a group setup where we work together step by step. After completion of the item, we let the children have the opportunity to have some time for free play.
The items are taken to the studio where it goes through the process of firing and glazing after which it will be returned to the school or venue. Then it can be taken home and shown off. Children absolutely love the pottery class and are extremely proud of their work.
WHAT DO WE WANT TO ACHIEVE IN A CLAZYkids POTTERY CLASS?
The first thing we want to achieve when teaching a class is for the child or adult to have fun and just enjoy the feel of the clay in their hands. Due to our busy modern lifestyle, we unfortunately suffer from stress, depression and many other health issues. Pottery is a great stress reliever.
We aim to achieve the following:
CREATIVITY
We are all born as creative beings but our creativity needs to be stimulated continually. We strive for children to be creative in their thinking as well as their working. It is very important for us to keep the mind open and creative.
FINE MOTOR SKILLS \ SPACIAL ORIENTATION
By working with clay the child’s fine motor skills are developed. We find that children who have problems with using a scissor and have wrong pencil grip and control tend to improve their abilities by working with the clay.
SELF-CONFIDENCE AND SELF-CONTROL
Pottery classes build self-confidence and make the child think and see things in a different and alternative manner, “out of the box “. We would love all children to see problems and obstacles as a challenge rather than a problem.
By boosting a child’s self-confidence, they also find it easier to control themselves on an emotional level. They tend to feel more in control of their emotions and feelings. It can help children that are hyperactive and are diagnosed with ADD and ADHD.
What we offer
Classes in the mornings and afternoons
CLAZYkids offers pottery classes at schools in the mornings. This is at schools who allow it as an extra mural and where there are more than 4 interested students. Afternoon classes are available at the studio.
Once off classes
The lesson is done at the studio or at a venue arranged prior to the class. In this class we will make a clay object and paint it. The item will then be ready to collect at the studio or venue in approximately 3-4 weeks. This amount of time is due to the length of the glazing progress
Pottery painting parties:
Ready-made items from our catalogue need to be chosen no less than one week before the event. If there is a specific theme, options can be discussed. We bring the selected items and paints, etc. to the venue. After painting the items, they are lazed and can be taken home with the child. Prices will vary depending on the item chosen and the number of children
Events and Venues:
We offer a “class” for events, such as baby showers, birthdays, corporate function etc.
We are also at different venues on weekends where we do the pottery while you are there. Booking is essential for both of these classes.

About the Owner
My name is Candice and I am the owner of CLAZYkids. I recently bought over the business which has been running for 20 years.
I am a qualified teacher and I have been teaching for over 20 years. I have a passion for children and being witness to the growth they achieve.
I have always been interested in childhood development. Their development can happen in many ways, but to be creative with clay provides so much more opportunity for fine motor skills to develop. This is often neglected because there is just no time in the classroom. Similarly with adults, working with clay and creating a piece of art with their own hands can bring healing.
Many have benefited from these classes in various ways. I see it as a challenge and personal growing experience.
I feel truly blessed and fortunate that I can combine my love for teaching and creativity and live my dream.
There is no greater reward than to see children and adults alike blossom in their creativity.
